You are unsure how to exit Skyrim and return to the PC’s desktop, are you? You need not feel ashamed since you are not the only one who has done this. It’s a well-known meme revolving around Todd Howard and his insatiable urge to sell hundreds of different versions and editions of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. At this time, the flagship game published by Bethesda has been made available in more than a dozen different editions and re-releases. And the most recent version, which is dubbed the Anniversary Edition, has a ton of new stuff, but it also has certain modifications that people don’t understand, so they’re puzzled. To be more specific, gamers on PC no longer know how to depart Skyrim. Where exactly did the Quit option go in Skyrim: Elder Scrolls Online? Let’s find out!
How to Exit Skyrim on a Personal Computer
Now that you have made up your mind to play Skyrim for the millionth time, you have installed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition. Congratulations! You engage in the activity, and everything seems to be operating normally for the time being. After a few of hours have passed, you come to the conclusion that this is sufficient for the first session. You decide that you no longer want to play the game, so you hit the Escape button and search the menu for a button that says “quit game” or “leave game.” Where can I find it?
It would seem that with the release of the Anniversary Edition patch, a significant number of players, both veteran and new, are unable to exit the game in the usual manner. Is it true that Bethesda removed the “Quit” option from the menu? Thankfully, that is not the case in this instance. What has occurred is that they have included a button labeled “Mods” inside the menu. This extra item activated the quit button that was located right below the initial window that was displayed. Follow these steps if you want to leave Skyrim:
To exit the menu, use the “ESC” button.
Click on the “System” tab to continue.
Scroll just a little and you’ll notice “Quit”.
Simply pick the Quit option from the menu that appears, and then choose whether you want to return to the main menu or your desktop.
The end, as they say. Everything is still in the same place as it was before, with the exception of the “Quit” option, which has been buried and can only be accessed by scrolling. In all honesty, the user interface design isn’t very good since it doesn’t make it clear that you need to scroll (it has no scroll bar). Because of this, a great deal of player confusion exists on the proper way to exit the game. Have a good time, and remember that you are free to leave at any time!
