HOW TO CLEAN VANS – YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
We’ve answered the most commonly asked questions on cleaning suede, leather and canvas Vans below.
Can you put Vans in the washing machine?
It is not something we advocate doing. Even if you place them in a pillowcase, there is still a possibility that they may be harmed.
So how do I clean them?
You may discover the many methods that are suggested for cleaning your Vans further down this page. These methods vary according to the material that the Vans are constructed of.
WHAT ABOUT THE INSIDE OF MY VANS?
Baking soda and a light detergent may be combined into a paste that can be used to whiten the inside of your Vans. Place a cloth on your work table, and then using a tiny brush or a toothbrush, massage the paste into the fabric of your shoes from the inside out. You may leave it for up to 15 minutes before rinsing it with warm water and allowing it to dry naturally.
HOW TO SAFELY BLEACH THE WHITE STRIP ON YOUR VANS
The majority of Vans feature a white rubber strip that goes around the exterior of the sole to give them a unique edge. This strip can be seen on most of the Vans models. The first thing that comes to mind could be reaching for the bleach, but doing so can cause the shoes to become yellow. Follow these methods to get it back to its original box fresh state.
Pick out a clean area to work on, and then drape a sheet or towel over it.
Cover the material of the shoe with masking tape to prevent any cleaning substance from leaking through and injuring the upper or the sides of the shoe.
To clean, we suggest using one of the following products: white vinegar, lemon juice, rubbing alcohol, or acetone. Fill a small cup with the cleaning solution.
To clean the white rubber, take an old toothbrush or a tiny cleaning brush with soft bristles, dip it into the cleaning agent, and then gently buff the white rubber in small circular movements.
Simply wipe it off with a fresh towel that has been dampened, and you’re done!
The rubber soles of your Vans are another surface that may be cleaned using the same manner. Be careful to use a brush to remove any loose debris and grit before continuing.
SUEDE QUICK CLEAN
Using a suede brush with soft bristles, clean off any loose dirt and grime that may be on your shoes.
Dark stains may be removed by carefully blotting them with a cloth moistened in white vinegar and water in equal parts. However, you should take care not to completely soak the shoe in the solution.
You may clean the rubber strip that runs around the outside of your suede Vans by using a magic eraser.
Allow your vehicles to dry naturally in the air.
SUEDE DEEP CLEAN
You may remove surface debris from the tops, sides, and soles of your shoes by brushing them with a gentle suede brush.
Put a tiny quantity of suede cleaner designed specifically for suede on a toothbrush and work it into the soiled regions of the suede. This will ensure that the suede is thoroughly cleaned.
Use a toothbrush or a soft-bristled scrubbing brush, together with some soap and water, to thoroughly clean the rubber strip and the bottoms.
Allow your vehicles to dry naturally in the air.

LEATHER DEEP CLEAN
If you want your leather shoes to be clean in a hurry, skip the step below labeled “3,” and let your shoes air dry overnight.
To begin, use a shoe brush to clean the tops, sides, and bottoms of your shoes. Next, go on to the insides of your shoes.
Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel and a synthetic brush may be used to clean the leather on your shoes.
After you have thoroughly cleaned your footwear, proceed to use a substance that will waterproof the leather as well as the stitching (again, we recommend Nikwax).
You should let your shoes a full day to dry naturally in the air.
Can you put suede Vans in the washing machine?
Because suede does not get along well with water, it is essential to remember to keep the shoes as dry as possible when you are washing them. It is strongly recommended that you do not wash them in a washing machine or mist them with water. Instead, focus on cleaning specific unclean areas.
